Back on the Beat!
I have been off the postings in order to get myself in the mood again. I have been playing around town as usual with my regular gig in "Music Under New York" and have one dedicated student so far. I really don't teach much because my calling since the age of 4 has been that of a Performer of Music. ANYWAY- I have a large back load of topics and reviews to share with you: 1)A look into the Bach Chaconne with the Interpretation of Forbes Henderson and the various interpretations including the heavy duty DAVID LEISNER . 2) The just completed MANNES GUITAR SEMINAR of 2012 which was a lot of fun 3) A lovely Garden Concert by the great young virtuoso RUPERT BOYD held in The Greenwich House School of Music 4) The Yale Guitar Extravaganza 5) An update of one of my favorite young Masters - CELIL RAFIK-KAYA
6) The Fabulous German Virtuoso needing more exposure PIA GAZAREK-OFFERMANN and several reports on the Jazz Guitar Gigs. So much to write about and that is just the tip of the Iceberg!
I will be heading Upstate soon to participate in the Upstate New York Guitar Festival with a performance and report of this wonderful two day event which will feature one of the great legends of our time -or any time - DAVID STAROBIN!!! A master of all the periods of Music and super virtuoso of the Music of our time! I will also be at the Woodstock Guitar Invitational the following weekend to check out the wild creations of the Cutting edge Luthiers and grab some great Concerts and Workshop. Before that I will be taking a Brazilian Guitar Workshop here in the City next month to sharpen up my Brazilian Chops. Yeah BABY! AT 62 coming at you!!!!!!! Speak to you later as soon as I get some breakfast in my stomach! I've been up all night and hope my eyes have deleted all the grammar mistakes and hope that I am making decent sense for you so far. I'm a little groggy but after breakfast and a good workout at the gym, I will be ready to cut down the posting tree I have set for myself today! Speak to you later and I hope you all had a great Summer!!!!
